Cowansville recycles
Since 2002, the City of Cowansville is striving to achieve the objectives set out in the government’s policy on recycling (Politique québécoise de Gestion des matières résiduelles) which provides that between now and 2008 , we should recycle and re-use 65% of recyclable and compostable material produced in our city.

In order to achieve this goal, the city has put into place a programme of recyclable waste collection which takes place every two weeks and which serves all dwellings, industries, commercial and institutional establishments. The pick-up takes place every Wednesday or Thursday according to the schedule for your area.

If collection day falls on a holiday, the pick-up will take place on either the day before or the day after the holiday. You will be advised by Public Notice.

To fully achieve the objective, Cowansville will, within the next few months, be setting up a collection for compostables ( ex : table residues, grass, dead leaves etc.). At the present time, these compostables make up 40% of the contents of the garbage bags. Watch for our communiques on this subject..
