A certain number of fire fighters are also trained to investigate the cause of fires.

Should the need arise, the Cowansville department can call on its’ mutual aid partners from Farnham, Dunham, Lac Brome, Waterloo, Sutton, and Bromont as well as the Bromont IBM Emergency team.

The Fire Prevention Service is made up of two fire-fighters who offer prevention information three days per week. Their services are specifically linked to the enforcement of municipal fire prevention by-laws, public education, promotion of fire safety training, the preparation of intervention plans, assistance in preparing emergency measures plans for industries, and inspection of fire causes, as well as the inspection of heating systems.
