Bruck House
Built in 1874, the Bruck House was a branch of the Eastern Townships Bank until 1909 when it became the home of the Vilas family, owner of a manufacture of agricultural implements, school desks, and later of maple furniture. In 1941, Bruck Mills, a textile company established in Cowansville since 1922, bought the house and it became the Bruck Recreation Club, used for meetings, training sessions and parties for their employees.

In 1956, this house became the home of the Cowansville Art Centre, founded by Eugenie S. Lee. From 1956 to 1979, the Cowansville Art Centre was the promoter of fine arts in our region, and through its sponsorship the Bruck-Lee Collection was created from the generous contributions of well-known artists and generous benefactors. Today the Bruck House is the propriety of the town of Cowansville and the home of the Bruck-Lee Collection.

This museum will be held at Bruck House from june 24th till October 12th, 2008. A unique collection of works dating from 1891 to 1980 includes a famous canvas by the celebrated painter Alexander Young Jackson from the Group of Seven.  A number of artists' paintings belong to the Beaver Hall Group, and some to the members of the Royal Canadian Academy. Visual arts rich in history!  This collection put together by the Cowansville Art Centre hosted its most spectacular exhibit in 1965:  Eleven Canadian artists.  The visit of the former Prime Minister of Canada, the Honourable John Diefenbaker, indicates the prestige of the collection.
