Situated at the centre of a region where culture and tourism are mainstays of development, the City of Cowansville is also a leader among cities where art and heritage take a prominent place. It is the Cultural Services Department that is charged with the responsibility to ensure that all of its colour, beauty and dynamism take their rightful place. This task is met by the department working on its own and with different organizations as needs be.
The Cultural Affairs Department is responsible for the development of the library, of Bruck House, as well as the bandstand in Davignon Park. In addition, the Service manages the Tourist Information Office with the help of the Historical Society. The Historical Society developed the Heritage Walkway that highlights the city’s rich past as well as the permanent heritage exhibit at Bruck House.
In 2004, the Cultural Affairs Department developed, with the help of participants from the cultural community, a policy and a three year plan of action to coordinate the various activities in cultural matters. Municipal staff work closely on all aspects of this important planning tool where creativity, significance, aesthetics, and harmony are fundamental values.
The text of the cultural policy is available in a PDF file
or in the various municipal offices.
