In civil matters the Court can receive and hear:
- municipal tax or municipal permits recovery cases;
- any other case having to do with by-laws or
tariffs in the municipalities under its jurisdiction.
In criminal matters, the Court has exclusive
jurisdiction in the following areas:
- municipal by-laws dealing with traffic, peace, order, public nuisance, city planning, zoning and construction;
- certain provincial laws (highway code, etc.);
- any other laws that may come under its’ jurisdiction.
Judge Pierre J. Raiche sits in common municipal court and the law firm of Paradis, Lemieux & Francis acts as counsel for the prosecution before the court.
